Slant back faucets are designed mainly for older sinks which have 45° angle faucet holes.

"Are there any special adapters I need to hook up a 1/2" SJ (slip joint) connection?"
Any flexible supply line with 1/2" SJ on one end will work. You will need to make sure the other end of the supply line will connect to your angle stop.
