"What kind of protective features does the MQ have?"
The wonderful Grundfos MQ pump has a built-in automatic dry-run protection switch to save your investment.
If the pumps runs dry,
it will automatically turn off.
It will restart every 30 minutes for a maximum of 24 hours before needing a manual restart. The Grundfos MQ pump
also has a built-in thermal protection. If the pump overheats, it immediately stop as well. After a 30 minute cooling-down
period, the pump will automatically restart.
The Grundfos MQ has an easy accessible priming plug for filling the pump with water
before starting. It also contains a drain plug to prevent the pump from freezing. The "anti-cycling" feature prevents the pump from
continuously starting and stopping when you have a dripping tap or minor leak in the system.
