HEAVY-DUTY: Designed for easy adaptation and a free flow of liquids for tank or drum drainage or filling. Also used as outlets for distribution into a piping system, these molded tank adapters withstand many times the most extreme service requirements.

Assembly to a tank is simple: Cut a hole in the tank wall (using a hole saw) to the 'A' dimension shown above for your fitting size. Remove the locknut from the fitting, leaving the gasket on the body. Insert the body through the hole in the tank from the inside, trapping the washer between the tank wall and the shoulder of the tank adapter. Screw the locknut back onto the body for a tight, leak-free installation.

Q. "Can I attach pipe to both sides of a bulkhead fitting?"
A.One side (the side with the nut) of our deluxe bulkhead fittings is female pipe thread, and the other (flat or flanged) side (with the exception of the smaller 1/4" and 3/8" bulkhead fittings) is a glue style socket for standard plastic pipe (sch40 PVC, ABS, etc.). This means that either a threaded male adapter or a nipple will be required to attach to the threaded side. The smaller 1/4" and 3/8" deluxe bulkhead fittings have a smooth walled end that is not designed to accept gluable pipe. Our economy bulkhead fittings are female pipe thread on both sides.

Q. "Why don't the smaller 1/4" and 3/8" bulkheads have the glue-style socket on the other end for standard plastic pipe?"
A.We believe it's because 1/4" and 3/8" Schedule 40 plastic pipe are very rare, if they still exist at all. The manufacturers have elected to include the pipe-sized, glue-style socket on the more common larger bulkheads only.

Q. "What are the gaskets made of?"
A.For sizes 1/4" to 2" deluxe are EPDM and 3" to 6" are neoprene.
