Q. "What is the difference between an electric unit and a hydronic unit?"
A. Electrical units heat the towel warmer using electricity. Electric units are easier to install, can be installed virtually anywhere and can be used year round. Hydronic units heat the towel warmer using hot water which is also being used for heating the whole house via a radiator system. The towel warmer is controlled by a valve that lets hot water flow through the unit, consequently heating the towels. The down side of the hydronic system is that the towel warmer cannot be used in the summer time as most radiator heating systems are not in use during the warmer season.

Q. "What is the main purpose of a towel warmer?"
A. Towel warmers have many uses and applications, but their main use is as their name implies- to warm towels. Towel warmers heat towels and bathrobes before they are used (if a warm towel is desired) and are also used to dry towels/bathrobes after showering or leaving the pool/beach. By drying the towel after it used, laundry loads and water consumption are reduced as washing can be done less frequently. This also prevents the towels from giving off that musty smell as they aren’t allowed to sit damp for hours and are properly dried.

Q. "What is the best way to place a towel on a towel warmer?"
A. It is recommended that folding the towel in half lengthwise and then folding it in half once more. If the towel is larger, you can even repeat this an additional time, creating at least four layers of towel lying on either side of the heated bar. The more layers there are creates a greater number of insulating layers which assists the towels in absorbing and keeping heat. Also, the more layers will add more weight for the towel to be resting on the bars creating more contact surface. It is also recommended that the towel cover at least three to four horizontal bars. Additional tip: You may also fold the towels lengthwise, placing them on the heated towel bars, then covering them with a large, open, unfolded towel or bathrobe.
